MATIPUNG BKSS LTD. CRAFTS MUSEUM
Considering the rich history and traditions of the Karbi tribe, Mrs. Sabina Teronpi, the founder of Matipung Boa Kata Samabay Samiti Ltd. embarked on a journey nearly two decades back to document the same by collecting various artifacts, materials etc. from different sources. Over the years, the process resulted in accumulation of various such items from ethnic textiles and jewelry to clay items, bamboo and cane products and also items made of metal which are used by the community in various spheres of life since time immemorial.
These items carefully stocked and preserved has been now displayed by the society in a proper manner in its small yet compact museum situated in Diphu town adjacent to the society’s registered office.
Matipung Boa Kata Samabay Samiti Ltd. believes that in the times to come, the museum which is expanding the volume of its collectibles every day would serve the greater purpose of educating and informing the future generations about the rich legacy of the Karbi people.
